Plywood Calculator
Calculate plywood face area, solid volume and optional sheet cost from length, width, thickness and quantity, using metric or imperial dimensions.
How to use Plywood Calculator
Work out the one-face area and solid volume of rectangular plywood sheets. Length and width determine the area; thickness is used only for volume. Each dimension has its own unit selector, so an 8-foot by 4-foot sheet can have a thickness entered in millimeters.
- Enter the measured dimensions and choose the unit beside each measurement. Quantities and counts must be positive whole numbers.
- Adjust any wastage and coverage inputs to match your estimate. Leave optional prices blank if you only need quantities.
- Review the results and assumptions below. Copy results includes labels and units; Reset defaults restores the starting example.

Assumptions and measurement notes
- Area means one flat face per sheet. It does not count the back face or edges, and it is not a cutting-layout estimate.
- An 8 × 4 ft sheet measures exactly 2438.4 × 1219.2 mm. A sheet sold as 2440 × 1220 mm is slightly different; enter its actual dimensions.
- Volume uses the thickness entered, without accounting for veneers, voids or manufacturing tolerances.
Units are normalized before calculation: 1 in = 0.0254 m, 1 ft = 0.3048 m, 1 ft² = 0.09290304 m² and 1 ft³ = 0.028316846592 m³. Decimal arithmetic is retained through quantity rounding; dimensions and prices are limited to 1,000,000,000 per input.
