Why Default Reports Aren't Enough

Default Tally reports (like the Balance Sheet and P&L) are built for accountants and tax auditors. They are not built for business owners who need to make immediate operational decisions. To get real business intelligence, you need Custom MIS (Management Information System) Reports.

Building Executive Dashboards in Tally

An Executive Dashboard is a single screen inside TallyPrime that combines critical metrics. Instead of navigating through five different menus to check cash flow, bank balances, and top debtors, an owner can press one button and see a clean, color-coded dashboard.

• Cash Inflow vs Outflow: See exactly how much money is expected this week versus payable.
• Top 5 Debtors: Highlighted in red if they exceed their credit days.
• Low Stock Alerts: Fast-moving items that are below the reorder level.

Salesman Performance Tracking

Tally tracks sales by "Party" (Customer). But what if you have 10 salesmen in the field? By adding a custom "Salesman Name" field at the voucher level using TDL, we can generate a powerful Salesman Performance Report:

• Total Sales volume per salesman per month.
• Total Collections (Receipts) linked to each salesman.
• Gross Margin generated by each salesman (not just revenue).

Godown & Branch Profitability

Standard Tally can track stock across godowns, but it struggles to assign indirect expenses (like electricity or rent) to specific godowns to calculate true profitability.

Using custom MIS reporting, we can use Cost Centers combined with Godown tags to generate a true Branch-wise Profit and Loss statement, helping you identify which retail store is actually making money.

How We Build This (TDL Analytics)

These custom reports are built using Tally Definition Language (TDL). We create custom Collections (database queries) that join data from the Item Master, Ledger Master, and Voucher records into a single, high-speed report.
