Multi-Unit Land Area Converter

Convert one land area into six international units at once. Compare square feet, square meters, square yards, acres, hectares and square kilometers.

ONE MEASUREMENT · SIX EQUIVALENTS

Zero or 1e-12 through 1 trillion. International area units; no local land-record convention is assumed.

How to use Multi-Unit Land Area Converter

Enter one plot area to compare six equivalents side by side, then copy or download the complete set. Unlike the pair-by-pair Area Converter, this view keeps every result visible together. It uses international units, not Bhutan-specific land-record conventions, and does not replace a survey.

  1. Enter an area and select the unit written on your source document. Scientific notation is accepted for small measurements.
  2. Read the six equivalent areas. Select 0–10 decimal places; a warning identifies a nonzero value that rounds to zero.
  3. Copy or download the labelled results. Reset restores one acre and six decimal places. Retain the original measurement for any later calculations.

Calculation rules and sources

Target area = source area × source square-meter factor ÷ target square-meter factor. The international foot is 0.3048 meters, so 1 ft² = 0.09290304 m²; 1 yd² = 0.83612736 m²; 1 acre = 43,560 ft² = 4,046.8564224 m²; 1 hectare = 10,000 m²; 1 km² = 1,000,000 m². Each output is calculated directly from the original input, never from a rounded displayed result. Browser numbers provide about 15–16 significant digits. Supported input is zero or 1e-12 through 1e12 in the selected unit. Very small results use scientific notation. Calculations stay in your browser, without storing or sending your measurements.

For a single conversion or smaller square units, use the Area Converter. Reference: NIST Guide to the SI — area conversion factors. The international-foot acre is used.

Practical questions

How is this different from the Area Converter?

This tool displays all six land-area units together and exports the full comparison. Use the Area Converter for a single source-to-destination conversion or additional small square units. Neither tool infers local land-record conventions.

Can I use the result to settle a boundary?

No. Unit arithmetic cannot determine a boundary, surveyed area or ownership. Use the measurement and unit stated by the relevant land authority.

Why does a tiny output show a warning or an exponent?

A small area may round to zero at your chosen precision. Increase decimal places or read the scientific notation. Display rounding is not a claim that the underlying area is zero.

Practical examples

One plot, three document units

Input
0.25 acre
Result
10,890 ft² = 1,210 yd² = 1,011.7141056 m²

Compare an acre-based listing, a square-yard quote and a metric plan in the same result set. Each conversion uses the original input.

A metric plan

Input
600 m²
Result
0.06 hectare = 0.0006 km²

These area units differ by factors of ten thousand and one million, not the linear meter-to-kilometer factor.

Square yards to square feet

Input
100 yd²
Result
900 ft²

A yard is three feet long, so a square yard contains nine square feet.
