Nepali Date Converter (BS ↔ AD)

Convert Nepali Bikram Sambat and Gregorian dates using a licensed month-length table, with BS 2000–2083 coverage, Nepali month names and strict date validation.

TABLE-BASED CALENDAR CONVERSION

Supported: BS 2000-01-01 through 2083-12-30 · AD 1943-04-14 through 2027-04-13. Dates outside this range are not estimated.

1 Baisakh / बैशाख 2083 BS14 April 2026 AD

2026-04-14 AD

Date-only conversion: no time of day or timezone is added. If a selected day is invalid after changing the month, choose a valid day; it is not silently rolled forward.

How to use Nepali Date Converter (BS ↔ AD)

Translate a date on a Nepali document into a Gregorian date, or convert an AD date into Bikram Sambat. Select the calendar explicitly: a bare year such as 2081 is otherwise ambiguous. This converter counts actual days in an embedded month table rather than adding or subtracting an approximate number of years.

  1. Choose BS → AD or AD → BS, then select the year, month and day separately.
  2. Read the formatted result and calendar label. If a month change leaves an invalid day, choose a valid day rather than accepting an automatic rollover.
  3. Copy or download the labelled result. Switching direction uses the converted date when valid, allowing you to check a round trip.

Calculation rules and sources

Supported BS dates run from 2000-01-01 through 2083-12-30, corresponding to AD 1943-04-14 through 2027-04-13. Each BS year has its own twelve month lengths; the Gregorian side uses the real leap-year rule. Conversion counts days from BS 2000-01-01 / AD 1943-04-14 using UTC date-only arithmetic. No local timezone or daylight-saving transition changes the result. The selected table is adapted from subeshb1/Nepali-Date at a pinned revision, under MIT, and is bundled locally without an installed runtime package. Reference pairs were checked against Nepal government publications; this is not an official document-validation service.

Practical questions

Why is there no constant BS–AD year offset?

BS month boundaries and lengths differ from Gregorian months and vary by year. Adding a fixed number of years and months can produce a plausible-looking but incorrect date.

Can I convert BS 2084 or a date before BS 2000?

Not in this version. The published range is deliberately bounded to the bundled BS 2000–2083 table. Dates outside it are rejected, even if another calendar service supports them.

Are Nepali names automatically translated?

No. Nepali month labels follow the upstream calendar library’s fixed labels. Roman spellings can vary, so numeric year-month-day values and the BS/AD label are also provided.
